This year, the Formula 1 Grand Prix gathered 135 000 spectators and more than 28 000 vehicles in Le Castellet, France. Facing two major problematics of security and crowd control, the organizers have mobilized 400 gendarmes, 70 firemen, and also CRS, EMS and Elistair tethered solution, deployed by a French drone security service company, Delta Drone.

Two Elistair Tethered Solutions for 84 Hours of Live Video Aerial Surveillance for Crowd Control.

Elistair tethered drones provided 360° live aerial video support throughout the entire event, and cumulated 84 hours of flight over the 4 days of the Grand prix. The videos were sent in real-time to the offshore Operations center. This helped the security managers coordinate the teams on the ground., so that they could ensure a quick response to potential incidents.

One drone focused on the stands and the circuit access points to ensure the spectators security and public safety. Meannwhile, the second one provided real time road situation and traffic monitoring to help anticipate critical points, regulate traffic by controlling the crowd and identify dangerous drivers’ behaviors.

Unlimited Flight Capacity and Minimal Logistical Footprint for Crowd Control

The Elistair tethered system keeps demonstrating its reliability and efficiency for large-scale sporting events surveillance and telecommunications operations. Tethered to its Safe-T ground station the drone receives continuous power and is maintained in a safe flight zone.

Built for endurance in complex environments, the Elistair tethered system is automated and capable of flying for more than 24 consecutive hours. This makes it a critical asset for crowd control and event security, reducing the need for ground-based resources and allowing for rapid deployment when time is of the essence.

Automated and built to endure persistent flights in complex environments it is easily deployable and can fly more than 24 consecutive hours. It was selected as part of the security dispositive for the Ryder cup, Ferté Alais, Bol d’Or and F1 Grand prix over the past few months.

In addition to their impressive endurance, Elistair tethered drones offer significant advantages for event security and crowd control. Their continuous power supply eliminates the need for frequent battery changes, allowing security teams to maintain uninterrupted aerial surveillance over critical areas. This capability is particularly valuable for monitoring dense crowds, detecting potential security threats, and managing emergency responses in real-time.

Moreover, the ability to capture high-definition video and transmit it directly to command centers provides a clear, real-time overview of the event, enhancing situational awareness. This proactive approach not only ensures the safety of spectators but also supports rapid decision-making during high-pressure situations, making Elistair’s tethered systems a useful tool for large-scale event organizers worldwide.
