In November 2022, a DJI M200 tethered to Elistair’s Ligh-T 4 station was deployed by Protec Group to secure the celebrities, public and staff during the NRJ Music Awards ceremony. Known as the annual musical meeting place for French and international stars, this ceremony takes places in the «Palais des festivals et des congrès» of Cannes and gathers about 40 artists and 2000 professionals.
Solution
In order to obtain a clear view over the points of interest, Protec Group installed its flight zone on the roof of a building near the Palais des festivals. The DJI M200 was plugged to the Ligh-T 4 tether station to be able to overwatch the whole event, and also to secure the flight zone by preventing risks of flyaways over the crowd. Operators and Police Forces used a network cable to share the drone view.

From the setup at daylight, to the end of the show at night, the drone remained airborne above the entrance of the Palais des festivals. The pilots were able to monitor the surrounding areas of the event including streets and close buldings. In addition, they focused on the celebrities’ arrivals surrounded by a crowd of people on the red carpet, and were able to detect any suspicious behavior.
