Anti-drone technologies can be combined with aerial surveillance drones to ensure the security of sensitive sites against the drone threat. Discover how in this use case, and watch our webinar replay to learn more.
Anti-drone systems address scenarios such as espionage, sabotage, and aerial intrusion. They are primarily deployed to protect critical infrastructures, military bases, borders, and sensitive events. Traditional detection methods, such as visual or acoustic observation quickly reach their limits, as they are often delayed and unreliable against discreet, fast-moving drones.
Hostile Drone Neutralization
The anti-drone system relies on CERBAIR solutions to ensure the detection and neutralization of hostile drones. It is based on a multilayer detection chain (C2/CMS) combining anti-drone solutions such as radiofrequency, radar, and optronic sensors, enabling reliable threat detection and identification. Neutralization is then carried out via RF jamming while preserving allied drone systems.
Solution
Cerbair and Elistair conducted a joint demonstration with the 28th Signals Regiment of the French Army to illustrate the complementarity between anti-drone operations and persistent aerial surveillance. They showed that it is possible to neutralize an enemy drone without disrupting allied drones, thanks to targeted RF jamming and the use of an Elistair tethered drone, which is jam-resistant and capable of maintaining continuous surveillance.
Result of the Mission
The demonstration showed that the combined use of Cerbair and Elistair systems provides continuous day-and-night surveillance, significantly extending situational awareness. Visual detection was achieved at greater distances than with conventional means, thereby reinforcing the protection of command posts and improving overall operational security.
The success of this mission opens up new possibilities for SDIS 11, such as forest fire surveillance. In this case, the tethered drone provides a clear, continuous view of burnt areas, enabling rapid, targeted intervention and reducing the risk of fires spreading.
“We simulated an intrusion by individuals into the command post. This was first detected by the Elistair drone and confirmed through the deployment of a verification team. At the same time, we demonstrated the role of the CERBAIR anti-drone solution in detecting hostile drones.”
