Lyon, France, 26 November 2024 – Elistair, a leading innovator in tethered drone systems, and ARX Robotics, an European autonomous robotics company, have announced a successful partnership to deliver a state-of-the-art Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) solution.

This integrated system combines Elistair’s KHRONOS DroneBox and ARX Robotics’ GEREON RCS Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV). It was recently tested during a three-week Experimentation Series conducted by the Army Concepts and Capabilities Development Centre of the Bundeswehr (German Army).

The testing program explored the potential of unmanned systems in various tactical scenarios, offering an ideal opportunity to showcase the seamless synergy between the two technologies. The Bundeswehr evaluated the performance of these advanced systems in delivering coordinated support for defense and surveillance missions.

Advancing ISR Operations

The joint solution utilizes Elistair’s KHRONOS DroneBox, known for its ability to provide continuous, mobile surveillance in contested environments, delivering real-time intelligence without interruption.

When paired with ARX Robotics’ GEREON RCS UGV, the system enhances operational mobility and extends surveillance capabilities across expansive areas. This integrated approach enables military units to monitor tactical situations efficiently, respond quickly to evolving threats, and maintain a superior situational understanding while minimizing risk to personnel.

“Traditional aerial drones have limited flight durations, but the DroneBox significantly extends their operational time. Combined with our GEREON RCS UGV, this solution becomes even more robust and versatile, improving both range and mobility,” explained Marc Wietfeld, CEO of ARX Robotics. “The GEREON acts as a vital link between the drone and the end user, ensuring the seamless transmission of real-time intelligence. Together, we enable continuous, autonomous surveillance across large areas, enhancing decision-making and response times.”

“This collaboration represents a significant step forward in enhancing the efficiency of drone-based surveillance,” said Steve Allcock, Head of Sales and Partnerships in Europe at Elistair. “Integrating our KHRONOS DroneBox with ARX Robotics’ UGV highlights the critical role of autonomous system cooperation in addressing modern defense challenges, while reducing risks for military personnel.”
