A tethered drone or tethered UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) is a drone connected to a ground station with a physical tether. This emerging category of drones offers strong benefits and opens new applications and uses for drone operators.

A tether is a simple but powerful way of solving drones’ main weaknesses. Elistair patented micro-tether technology enables: unlimited autonomy, safer operations and secured high speed data transfer.

Our station can be adapted to various types of drones, as it can supply a wide range of power with various output voltages. Please send us an email with your drone specs and we will be happy to answer your needs!

It depends on the country you are operating in. In some countries, a tethered drone is not considered as a drone and it can be used freely. In other cases, a tethered drone only benefits from lighter rules. Please refer to the civil aviation laws of your country.

Elistair micro-tether has been designed to allow full functionality and mobility of the tethered UAV.

By using a ultra-light tether technology and a smart automated winding system, the solution has minimal effects on the drone performance within over 80% of the volume defined by the tether.

Depending on the application, the platform and the payload needed, the micro-tether can reach up to 100 meters.

Our tethers include a high-speed data transfer through Power-Line Communication. The maximum data rate of the PLC is 40 Mb/s.

If the ground power source goes down, for any unpredictable reason, an embedded safety device automatically activates a safety battery and an alarm signal rings. With an extra 2 minutes flight time, the operator can land safely its tethered drone.
